Releasenewly constructed Transit Hotel Complex at the Bandaranaike International Airport is now operational. Consisting of 24 rooms categorized in to four types according facilities provided, guests traveling via Colombo to other destinations can now spend their extra time in the comfort of a room within the precincts of the airport if they so desire.

Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha in Colombo 7 will once again be the platform from which local artists with talent will speak to the public. Around 350 artists are due to exhibit their paintings on Sunday 21st February at the ‘Kala Pola’ presented by the George Keyt Foundation.
This year, going beyond the usual, the exhibition is going to take on the air of an European summer art festival and will feature other artistes who will compliment the work of the painters with song and music. Commencing from 10 a.m. the exhibition will run through the day providing an opportunity for artists from around the country to present their works and gain recognition and be commissioned.

time Sri Lanka sees former Naval troopship the ‘Jetliner’ converted to
a venue for meetings conferences and other functions.The refurbished troop transporter belonging to the Sri Lanka Navy was previously used to
transport troops from the Eastern port of Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai
in the Northern Jaffna peninsular. Since the end of hostilities in May
2009, the ship has been refurbished and is intended to be a flag bearer
of maritime tourism. The 'Jetliner' with a passenger carrying capacity
of 600 passengers and 160 motor vehicles also has a banquet area, mini
conference hall, a ballroom, an observation salon and a deck area with
a capacity to host 250 guests.
The
‘Jetliner’ is being marketed as a venue for weddings, conferences and
corporate events, and for other ceremonies, to be hired on an hourly
basis, or for day trips, either docked in the port or outside the
territorial waters. The vessel is to be manned by Navy crew with
catering and entertainment to be outsourced, on a need to basis and is
scheduled to commence operations in February this year.(29th Jan 2010)

In a bid to boost commercial activity in the Jaffna region, the
Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Sri Lanka (FCCSL)
and Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services come together to hold the
first Jaffna International Fair (JIF) in the new atmosphere of peace
and hope which now prevails in the north. The event scheduled for April is to be held at the Jaffna Central
College and will also see the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of
Yarlpanam and the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau assisting the organizers,
for the conduct of this international event, held with the joint
objectives of establishing new trade links and strengthening existing
ties with the rest of Sri Lanka and to draw international business to
the north. The Jaffna International Fair will cover an extensive range

The culinary delights of the World Spice Festival draw on a real
mixture of Sri Lankan spices and cooking methods as well as the talents
of visiting chefs and the signature spices from their home countries.
This year's World Spice Food Festival promises all the excitement and
culinary delights that have endeared by visitors in the past.
Participating hotels and restaurants will conduct the food festival for
